Hermann, Gottfried
Persische Urkunden der Mongolenzeit. Documenta Iranica et Islamica 2, Herausgegeben von Monika Gronke, Wiesbaden, Harrassowitz Verlag, 2004, 205 p., plates 119.

The book edits, translates, and studies 28 public documents composed in the Mongol period, which were originally preserved at Ardabil and can be found today in the Islamic department of the National Museum in Tehran. The documents are of special interests because of the relevance for Mongol diplomacy, courtly protocol, taxes, pious donations, determination of property rights, and material features such as seals. The documents were written between 687 – 785/1288 – 1383 for Ilkhanid and Jalayirid rulers and officials. The book consists of two main parts. The first part discusses the history of the documents and certificates in Mongol Iran (external form; structure of the documents; registration; seals). The second part edits, translates, and analyses the documents.
