Ahkam-e Soultani von Mawardi. Persische Übersetzung von Hosseini-e Shafe’ii. Published in Series of « Blätter für Kultur und Gesellschaft » (No. 3), Münster, 2002, 46+202 p.
This is the first known Persian translation of Al-Mawardī’s famous book Al-Aḥkām al-Solṭāniyya. The Persian title is Aḥkam-e Solṭānī. The translator is Qavām al-Dīn Yūsef b. al-Ḥasan al-Ḥoseynī Šāfe⁽ī. It is assumed that the translation was finished in the beginning of the 10th century (hq). The translator has added a number of comments to the original text which are of importance as well.
The book contains ten chapters of the manuscript. Pahlavan writes in his introduction that the entire manuscript will be published later. This part of the manuscript, which has now been published in the city of Münster, was edited together with the late M. T. Daneshpajouh. According to Pahlavan, the present ten chapters were ready to be printed in Iran but because of certain difficulties he had no other choice but to publish only one hundred copies in Muenster.
As far as is known this manuscript is a rarity. The language and the comments of the Persian translator have made out of it a unique text worth separate analysis.
