Texte intégral
1Objects from Iranian pre-Islamic date that are housed within the Hermitage museum come either from excavations or from a more dubious and illicit source, i.e. purchase or donations of ‘antiquities’ by great names with not always great ways of working. Nevertheless it should be said that many objects mentioned indeed come from authorized and scientific excavations. However its largest pre-Islamic collection, the silverware, seems to come from chance finds only. The article has good merit since it did not refrained from pointing out what comes from secure sources, i.e. scientific excavations, and what is dubious or even fake.
