Texte intégral
1The article proposes an account of the six-week journey and its preparations of Joseph Lindon Smith and wife at Persepolis. The sojourn at the site coincided with the unfortunate period just after the departure of E. Herzfeld and preceding the arrival of his successor E. Schmidt. The aim of the journey was the painting of the monuments. The article proposes bits of the personal journal of Smith, in which many reflections recollect the journey amongst archaeologists, diplomats and the like, in 1935. The Smiths drew up several critical notes concerning the crème de la crème of the then famous archaeologists.
